Estimated Monthly Budget
Susie and I have discussed the
costs of living in Thailand with a number of families (friends) already living there
and several of them living right in Chiang Rai.
Based on this information and our recent trip to Thailand, we are estimating our monthly budget for living and ministering in Chiang Rai at $3200. We have separated this amount into four categories. The chart at the right shows the relationship of these four areas. The actual numbers for each category is listed below:

Estimated One-Time Moving Expenses
In addition to monthly expenses, we know we
will also have a number of one-time expenses. Included in this
group are pre-field training (for example Teaching English as a Second
Language(TESL) certification), costs for setting up a home in Chiang
Rai, and purchasing two vehicles.
The vehicles include a 4-wheel drive truck or Jeep needed for getting to and from villages. These villages are often at or near the top of mountains in northern Thailand with roads slightly better than trails.
The actual estimated amounts are shown below:
